Finish:
Medium to long, sweet and warming, with lingering notes of honey, raisins, candied citrus, vanilla, chocolate and soft oak spice.
Sherry-Seasoned American & European Oak
The character of The Macallan AERA comes from its use of both American and European oak casks seasoned with sherry.
American oak contributes sweeter notes of:
- Vanilla
- Honey
- Caramel
- Citrus
- Coconut
- Gentle baking spice
European oak adds richer flavours of:
- Raisins and sultanas
- Dried fruit
- Candied orange
- Chocolate
- Cinnamon
- Ginger
- Toasted nuts
- Oak spice
The combination produces a balanced whisky with the rich dried-fruit character associated with The Macallan, complemented by softer vanilla, honey and citrus notes.
