The Springbank Local Barley 10 Year Old 2011 Vintage is a highly sought-after limited release from Springbank's celebrated grain-to-glass Local Barley series.
Distilled in May 2011 using locally grown Belgravia barley from Glencraigs Farm, just outside Campbeltown on the Kintyre Peninsula, this expression was matured entirely in 100% ex-bourbon casks.
After 10 years of maturation, it was bottled in December 2021 at a natural cask strength of 51.6% ABV, with a worldwide release limited to just 15,000 bottles.
Non-chill filtered and presented at natural colour, this release places Springbank's distinctive distillate at the centre of the experience, allowing its cereal sweetness, maritime character, fruit and subtle earthy smoke to shine through the bourbon-cask maturation.
Tasting Profile
Nose:
Fresh lemon and citrus peel lead into malted barley, vanilla, orchard fruit and subtle coastal salinity, with touches of mineral smoke and earthy Springbank character.
Palate:
Rich and oily, with sweet cereal, vanilla, honey and citrus joined by pepper, light tropical fruit and a distinctly maritime minerality.
Finish:
Long, warming and gently smoky, with lingering malt sweetness, citrus, sea salt and earthy mineral notes.
