Crafted in the coastal town of Hatsukaichi, the Sakurao Distillery represents the new generation of Japanese whisky craftsmanship. Established to expand production and explore new spirit styles, Sakurao combines traditional methods with modern precision.

This single malt is double distilled in an Arnold Holstein hybrid still, specifically designed to produce elegant, fruity spirits. Using pure spring water from the Oze River, the distillery achieves a clean, delicate profile. The still’s downward-facing swan neck helps retain rich aromatic esters, creating remarkable depth and complexity.

Matured for three years in ex-Bourbon casks, the whisky is then finished for 18 months in Sauternes casks, adding a luscious layer of honeyed sweetness and stone fruit richness. Non-coloured and non-chill filtered, it offers a pure expression of Sakurao’s signature style.

Tasting Experience
Expect bright aromas of white peach, apricot, and vanilla cream, followed by notes of honey, citrus zest, and toasted oak. The Sauternes influence brings a round, velvety sweetness that lingers beautifully on the finish.
