Nikka Yoichi 15 Year Old Single Malt Japanese Whisky
Nikka Yoichi 15 Year Old is a mature Japanese single malt that showcases the distinctive coastal character and subtle peat influence for which Yoichi is known. Produced at the historic Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido, founded by Masataka Taketsuru, this whisky was matured for 15 years and bottled at 45% ABV.
The nose opens with layers of orchard fruits, maple syrup, honeyed malt and gentle peat smoke. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, with flavours of caramelised apples, dried fruits, toasted almonds, dark spices and delicate sherry notes, balanced by Yoichi’s signature maritime character.
The finish is long, warming and complex, with lingering notes of subtle smoke, oak spice and sweet fruit.
Yoichi uses traditional direct coal-fired pot stills, an increasingly rare method in modern whisky production. This traditional approach contributes to the robust and characterful style associated with the distillery.
Following the discontinuation of many age-statement Japanese whiskies, Yoichi 15 Year Old has become a highly sought-after and collectible expression.
