The Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1998 embodies a transatlantic journey of flavor, seamlessly uniting the classic warmth of bourbon casks with the richness of sherry bodegas from Jerez, all elevated by the bold influence of virgin new charred oak. This rare expression brims with vibrant fruits, smooth toffee, and a hint of ginger, representing Glenmorangie’s elegant and experimental approach to whisky making.

In 1998, a renewed spirit of innovation filled the Glenmorangie Distillery as Dr. Bill Lumsden, newly appointed Director of Whisky Creation, began to explore bold new ideas. Fascinated by the potential of virgin charred oak, Dr. Bill selected a small number of custom-crafted casks, designed to amplify Glenmorangie’s signature soft and fruity spirit. These bespoke casks were charred for the very first time, imparting deep color and spice to the whisky within.

While many of these early casks were used to finish whisky, balancing their spice with Glenmorangie’s complex fruit notes, a select few were filled with new-make spirit and left to mature undisturbed. After over two decades resting in the cool, earthen floors of the distillery's warehouses, this spirit evolved into a beautifully rich and buttery whisky.

The result is a spectacular single malt, layered with waves of vanilla, chocolate intertwined with orange zest, warming ginger, and a subtle touch of sweet chilli – a true testament to Glenmorangie’s innovative craftsmanship.
