About the Distillery

The Clynelish Distillery, built in 1967 beside the original 1819 site, quickly became essential for Johnnie Walker blends due to its waxy, coastal character. For a brief time, the two sites ran together—known as Clynelish A and B—until the original reopened as Brora in 1969 to produce heavily peated whisky. Brora operated until 1983 and is now legendary among collectors, while Clynelish continues to supply a vital component to Johnnie Walker and remains a highly prized Highland single malt in its own right.

This rare 1995 vintage single malt was distilled at Clynelish and matured for 25 years in a refill sherry butt before being bottled in 2021 as part of Signatory’s Cask Strength Collection, at a natural strength of 57.2% ABV.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Sweet cherries and creamy fudge, lifted by tropical fruits and fresh garden herbs.

• Palate: Rich cherry pie with buttery pastry, melted chocolate, and a touch of bitter cocoa.

• Finish: Long and elegant with lingering red berries and seasoned oak.
