Chichibu London Edition 2021 Single Malt Whisky 700ml 51.5% ABV

Chichibu London Edition 2021 is the fourth release in the distillery’s annual London Edition series, produced to coincide with The Whisky Show. Although originally intended for the 2021 event, the release was delayed and did not become available until July 2022.

The whisky is a vatting of seven casks, all matured for more than five years. The composition includes mostly first-fill bourbon barrels together with casks that previously held peated whisky.

Chichibu Distillery, located in Saitama, Japan, opened in 2008 and was the country’s first new whisky distillery since Suntory opened Hakushu in 1973. The distillery was founded by Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the founder of the legendary Hanyu Distillery.

The Ichiro’s Malt brand first appeared in 2005 and became well known through the release of the remaining Hanyu casks, particularly the sought-after “Card” series. The first Chichibu whiskies under the brand were released in 2011.
