Octomore 16.1 is the latest chapter in Bruichladdich’s legendary super-peated series – a fearless, intensely smoky Islay single malt that still carries the distillery’s hallmark elegance and balance.

Distilled from 100% Scottish mainland barley and peated to an extraordinary 137.3 PPM, this release pushes the limits of flavour while remaining surprisingly refined. Matured for five years in first-fill ex-American whiskey casks, it weaves together layers of smoke, sweetness, and coastal character.

On the nose, smouldering peat intertwines with vanilla pod, honeycomb, toasted coconut and a touch of sea breeze. The palate delivers rich malt sweetness, creamy caramel, roasted coffee and charred oak, leading into a long, warming finish packed with salted toffee, spice and lingering smoke. Bottled at a commanding 59.3% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered, Octomore 16.1 is Islay in its most raw and uncompromising form.
