Distillery Background
Springbank, established in 1828 on the site of Archibald Mitchell’s illicit still, is the oldest independent family-owned distillery in Scotland. Located in Campbeltown—a historic whisky-producing region on the Kintyre Peninsula—it is one of only three remaining distilleries in the area. Campbeltown’s whisky heritage dates back to 1591, with Springbank preserving traditional craftsmanship, including floor malting and onsite bottling.
