The Octomore 14.2 represents the bold and experimental spirit of Bruichladdich Distillery—where heritage meets innovation. Distilled in 2017 from 100% Scottish Concerto barley and malted to an intense 128.9ppm, this heavily peated Islay single malt defies convention with its complex maturation and stunning balance.

While Bruichladdich may lie on the famed island of Islay, it was historically built to produce an unpeated style—an anomaly that proves regional labels alone can’t define a whisky’s character. The Octomore series, launched in 2008, marked a new chapter of creative ambition: pushing peat levels to new extremes while maintaining elegance and finesse.

Maturation:
The Octomore 14.2 is matured for a total of five years, with a unique cask journey:

  • Primary Maturation:
     – 40% in Oloroso Sherry casks
     – 16% in first-fill Amarone casks
     – 44% in second-fill Amarone casks

  • Final Finish:
     – 1 year in Pauillac red wine casks (Bordeaux)

This rare and intricate cask combination layers deep fruit, spice, and coastal smoke into the whisky’s signature strength.
