Nestled beside Balmoral Castle, the Scottish residence of the Royal Family, Royal Lochnagar is one of Scotland’s most storied distilleries. Founded in 1826 by John Begg, it stands as the last working distillery on Deeside. Its name comes from the nearby mountain, once celebrated in verse by Lord Byron. Today, Royal Lochnagar produces around 450,000 litres annually, with much of its spirit traditionally destined for premium blends — making single malt releases like this one all the more special.

The 2021 Special Releases collection, curated by Master Blender Dr Craig Wilson, draws from legendary distilleries across Scotland. Each expression is paired with striking artwork by renowned illustrator Ken Taylor, depicting mythical guardians inspired by ancient Scottish folklore. A unique QR code unlocks an immersive tasting journey, blending storytelling, sight, and flavour.

This 16 Year Old was matured exclusively in refill ex-bourbon casks, allowing the distillery’s refined spirit character to shine. Bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.5%, it offers a pure and unadulterated taste of Royal Lochnagar.
